We often imagine faith as a bright and steady flame — always warm, always visible. But for many of us, faith is more like a lantern carried in the dark: enough light for the next step, but not the whole road.
God does not promise us clarity. He promises us presence. The disciples on the road to Emmaus did not recognize Jesus walking beside them, yet He was there all along — in the breaking of bread, in the questions, in the warmth they felt but could not name. "Were not our hearts burning within us?" they asked afterward (Luke 24:32). Sometimes we only recognize Him in the rearview mirror.
When uncertainty crowds in, the temptation is to grip the wheel tighter — to plan more, to worry more, to demand answers from God as though He owes us a spreadsheet of our future. But surrender is not passivity; it is the bravest act of love. It says: I trust You more than I trust my own understanding.
Today, if your path feels uncertain, take it one step at a time. Pray the simple prayer: "Lord, I do not see the way, but I trust the One who is the Way." He is walking beside you — and in time, you will feel your heart burning too.
